    Holster Question

For IWB holsters that will see very little use (around the house and perhaps in other states should I decide to go ahead and get an out of state CCW, which is pretty unlikely) is a holster with only one clip OK or will I truly regret the decision?

Should I go with a double clip, I've been leaning towards the SHTF holster brand, which seems to be top notch, but the single clip, due to how small it is, and also because I tend to wear basketball shorts around the house and I am wondering if the two clip holster would not be compatible with those shorts.

    I appreciate any input.

The single clip design is good for constant on and off ease. While it's not as comfortable, it's more convenient if you go to places that don't allow guns such as bars or restaurants. It's easier to take the holster off and leave it in the car and then put it back on without unbuttoning your pants.

So you can't really put on the 2 clip design quickly?

What I'm worried about with the 1 clip design is that it would flop around and/or that the holster would come out with the gun if I needed to draw. Are these legit concerns?

The draw shouldn't be affected, but the weight of the gun will seem heavier since it's not distributed between two clips. With a single clip design, it's even more imperative to have a sturdy gun belt. It also won't conceal as well since the clip is located directly above the gun as opposed to the clips located on the side of the pistol. But a lot of people use single clip holsters without any problems, including hickok45 who has a few holster videos on youtube.

What you are going to carry will change your experience with a single clip. The larger and heavier, the more weight focused on the clip. Double clip will disperse the load over a broader area and will be felt less. I carry a S&W .38 in a single clip Don Hume, and the heavier Glock 23 in a double clip Kholster. For occasional carry, though, single clip will be just fine. Either way, basketball shorts are difficult for carrying anything ( I tried to pocket carry with them and my shorts were always falling down).

I think a double clip IWB is better than a single clip IWB depending on the size of the gun and weight. The double clip will help distribute the weight of the gun evenly, and keep it "locked" in your favorite gun position; with the barrel straight down, the barrel at a 120 degree angle, etc. With a one clip (which I do not have), it would seem that the gun would have a tendacy to wobble a lot.

Get a good belt to go with the IWB holster; I went with a Comp-Tac Minotaur MTAC with a 5.11 Dress Belt and do not have issues putting the holster on or drawing from it. You can fiddle around with the retention and ease/harden the draw so that the gun does not come out with the holster.

It's a Smith 6906, which is not a light gun. You think it'll drag with a single clip?

ETA: Also, how is it when you sit in a chair, or especially a couch? Does the holster keep the gun from digging into your back/side, or will I be taking it off when I do that?

I think you can get away with a single clip, if you have a strong belt.

If I were to get the 2 clip holster, could I go sans belt?

They mention that the holster can be directly clipped onto the waist band, and that's kind of what I was hoping to do, but if that's just to sell the thing, I can live without it.

I've done single clip ones before. My Crossbreed Supertuck is very comfortable to me. When I go somewhere I can't carry in, I don't remove the holster. Well, except for places like the Post Office in downtown Sac. They made me remove every single item that had metal on me. I waited till it was the holster as I didn't want to scare some people unnecessarily.

It really depends on the weight of the gun. Otherwise, I'd say always use a good belt.

While wearing a holster clipped to your pants without a belt seems convenient, it really isn't a good idea.

The weight of your 6906, especially as it uses a staggered magazine, is going to flop around quite a bit without the support of a stiff belt

That looks great! Does anyone have any experience with it? I'm going to email him to see if he can get a mold for my Smith.
