So, Walther PDP or HK VP9?

          Both...

I have a free-state VP9 and it is great. Reviews on the Walthers are good too. Curious to see the differences for the CA versions.

PDP, Canik Mete (P99 clone), PPQ ...all great guns.
if you get one, you will eventually get the other.

If they are more reasonable cost, I would pick up a Walther PDP over the VP9. I like the VP9 but as usual, we're not getting the $500 on special versions that Free America gets here, ours are a lot more money. Have heard raves about the PDPs.

Both are good guns with very good triggers. I'd put the PDP trigger just a tiny bit above the VP9. The PDP with a red dot almost feels like cheating but the VP9 is no slouch either. You will be happy with either gun. I have a PDP Compact with a 4" barrel and a VP9 with a 4.1" barrel. The PDP Compact is in between a G17 and G19 so it could be a good CCW gun if you leave it stock without the red dot although I simply use it as a range toy. I was and still am tempted to get the 5" full size but you don't gain much. The Compact grip is long enough to get a full grip (no pinky hangover) and the extra 1" barrel length gets you a few more fps.

Truth be told, I could sell my VP9 tomorrow and not miss it but it holds a nostalgic spot for me. It was the first gun in Free America where I saw it at the store, bought it and shot it on the same day.

                ?

I have a PDP and a PDP-F, and can confirm they have excellent triggers and great ergos. The PDP-F is my favorite of the two, and if they make the roster it will cause G19 sales to plummet!

My question is which is better? The Walther PDP or the new Springfield Echelon.

The Echelon has a FCG module (COG) like the Sig P320.

Supposedly the Echelon has a lower height over bore than the PDP. So the Echelon is supposed to shoot flatter.

Shooting flat is not as important as consistent return. The quality of the workmanship between the two pistols is very apparent.
