    Springfield Range Officer vs Loaded

I'm in the market for a new 1911, I had sold mine quite a few months back and kick myself for doing it. I originally bought a RIA gov model and put about $400 - $500 in it. The recoil always seemed to be alot more than what I saw others having. Also I hear often people saying that their 1911 kicks like a 9mm...? Will a higher end or better built 1911 have less felt recoil? From what I've seen the RO and the Loaded models aren't far in price at all so I can go either way. But being I have zero experience with either of those how would they compare? Is one better than the other performance wise? I would think the Loaded models are better but I couldn't know for sure.

Generally, a heavier gun will recoil less. I am not aware of the exact specs of your gun, but in general a beavertail (if I remember correctly) isn't standard on any of RIAs except the tactical and match. You may be confusing government model with Gi, a 1911 offering from RIA that does not have a beavertail grip safety. A grip safety allows some users to grip the pistol higher and get more purchase on the handgun. More grip is better.

In my opinion, the springfields are good pistols, but you probably won't find a whole lot of difference between the two in terms of firing the pistol.

Also, recoil is subjective. All I know is that the 1911 platform is a stable platform and makes things fun to shoot for me. To put it in perspective, my 100 lb girlfriend who wears size xs gloves can fire it and actually likes it. Hopefully this helps.

Nope, better build quality has nothing to do with perceived recoil or muzzle flip.

It is all about technique. I'll bet you're fighting the recoil too much and trying to muscle it down
