Colt 1911 rollmarks

Hi,

Do you guys know when Colt stopped putting roll marks on the right side for their 70 series guns? I think only 2011 models have 100 years of service roll mark on the right.

Do you know the reason why they stopped the rollmarks on the right side?

Dating back to the vintage U.S. Property models, Colt has traditionally placed their trademark and/or rollmark on the left side of their 1911 pistols.

Colt had "Government model roll mark on the right, which they have stopped i think from 2012.

Again, their primary rollmark has always been featured on the left side of the pistol. On the right side, rollmarks such as the Gold Cup NM, Combat Elite, Rail Gun, etc. still exist. If your question is in specific reference to the Colt's Government Model rollmark, that rollmark remains current as well.

Yes, my question is about Government roll mark on the right side of the gun, which is missing from this year. I called Colt and they said that they are removing right side rollmarks from this year.

I noticed that they were gone when I looked through the catalog but I assumed it was a photoshop. Interesting that they're removing them from the pistols. It's probably a cost/nostalgia thing. Lower cost and make the guns like they used to be.
