    1911 compact help needed.

So is there a compact or even midsize 1911 w/a lightweight, say aluminum, frame that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? CA legal or not?

I was looking at the RIA but they arent shipping right now and I don't think they are aluminum.

    Any thought appreciated.

Right, the RIA is not aluminum.

If you don't NEED it to be ultra-lightweight

$424 shipped + your FFL fee + dros + tax and it is available.

It is a bit heavy though. With the hogue finger groove rubber grip and 7 rounds of 230 gr FMJ loaded it weighs in at 40 oz. (2.5lbs) on my digital scale.

"Moms Demand Action" sounds less like a gun control group and more like the title of a porn flick from the mid-90s.

I have that same gun, it is heavy but with a good belt and an ITWB holster it seems to carry fine. It also shoots GREAT! I was only one down for my CCW class with it. (it still hit the board just out side and that was the first shot after a reload at 15 yard)

Yeah the RIA's great, in fact I just picked up a full size tactical. But I really want something lighter. I had been looking at the FNP 9. I'd like to have something my wife and I could both shoot.
