I noticed a previous thread from about 2 years ago concerning a modification I recently (4/2012) did to my Kimber Stainless Pro Carry ll. I thought my info might be relevant and decided to join up and submit my post. Hopefully, it's helpful to anyone who owns one of these pistols. I've also made a YouTube video to show the process I went thru.
Since making the video, I ordered and replaced the original Kimber guide rod spring and checked to see how much longer the new one was versus the original, since I'd shot approx. 800 rounds thru the pistol since I bought it several months ago.
So........I'm now using a G.I. guide rod with a stock Pro Carry recoil spring and the gun is working flawlessly. And.........no need for the L-tool for disassembly.
All of this seems like a "plus" to me.
