    XD45 slide STUCK

Well, apparently after search a few XD forums, this is not such an uncommon thing, but after cleaning my XD, I suppose I was a little careless in putting the spring/guide rod back in, and it was off center by a hair. It is stupidly easy to do this.

Well, after pulling the slide back to push the locking pin into place, it just stuck there. It will not budge from it's position mid-way back. It will not go forward either.

Well, I emailed SA and got a call the next morning. they are eastern time, so I am at work while they are open, but he told me to try using a crescent wrench to budge it. no go. Even with he guide rod end in my vise, it is as stuck as a brink. I hate to send it back to them and deal with that.

Has anyone here had this happen before? Does anyone know of a smith CLOSER than SA to have look at it, maybe in so cal? Quite honestly, if this is a regular issue, the XD is not ready for prime time. I have never seen this in glock or HK. I can take some pics if anyone is interested.

    Thanks!

I heard similar thing happened but the owner put the guide rod the other way around. He pound the end of the slide with a rubber mallet and the slide budged but left scars on his locking lug.

I'll take it for $50 bucks!
sigpicIf you loan someone twenty dollars and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

There is a thread about this sort of thing on another forum.
Are you sure that you did not accidentally "partially" depress the grip safety? Apparently when you disassemble or re-assemble, if the grip safety is not fully depressed when you work the slide it will lock up to the point that you will have to send it back to the factory to get it rectified. It has something to do with the design of the pistol. If I find link, I will post it here.

The same thing happen to my friend's brand new XD45. He too, ended up sending it back to the factory. When he got it back, he sold to the first guy who gave him $400 for it. Went back to his faithful Sig 220. No problems.

Sounds like the crescent wrench works too:
