Coming home from lucky with my daughter (who is 15) in the car making a left hand turn, dude cut me off and while avoiding him second guy cut me off so I did some zig zagging around them and continued down the road.
I am a block down cruising at 38 mph or so when I see a LEO with lights on and no siren coming up behind me. I say oh god I hope that is not for me knowing that it is, I went pretty fast when I zig zagged between the cars that cut me off.
LEO pulls up behind me with lights on so I pull over and shut my car off and roll my windows down.
LEO: Why are you going so fast?
I kind of stammered: Just coming home from the grocery store.
LEO: So no reason then?
Me: Regaining my composure, well I was turning and the guy cut me off then another guy and so on.
LEO: You were still going pretty fast when I pulled up behind you.
Me: The speed limit is 35 right? (I really thought it was!)
LEO: No it's 30, license and registration, is this a Subaru STI?
Me: No it's just a 02 WRX, when I got it 11 years ago they didn't make an STI....
LEO: OK, then walks back to his car.
Ice cream melting in the trunk, me crapping my pants. Couple minutes go by and the LEO comes back.
LEO: with a totally straight face, Man you must have broken a record!
Me: crapping my pants, I thought he was talking about a speed record or something!
LEO: You own twelve handguns?
Me: crapping my pants again
LEO: big grin spreads across his face, Ya man you got like 10mm, 223, 45 all kinds of stuff.
Me:Yep
LEO: Man that is really COOL, just keep the speed down. I know this is a fast car but just slow down OK.
Me: Will do thank you officer.
LEO: Walks back to his car.
At this point I am thankful for not getting a ticket but a bit bewildered that all that info about firearms comes up at a traffic stop. The LEO was pretty cool with the guns obviously but wow having all my handguns pop up made me feel a bit like my privacy was intruded upon.
This happened about an hour ago at this point and I still have a big grin on my face from the cool comment the officer made but not so much about the fact that that info just pops right up. I am glad all my rifles didn't come up to or he might have aksed to go shooting or something.
Has this ever happened to anyone else, the handgun part not getting let loose from a ticket?
