Going rate of a Colt Python 6" blued

I know its not a lot to go off of, but I can buy a 6" blued Python for a great price IMO right now. I'm gonna sell one of my toys to get it, but I'm wondering what a 9?+ % python from mid 60's is worth at this point.

Edit: 4/25/12 I just got a hold of it to take a look at to shoot. He's throwing in a cheap case, an uncle mike's holster, 2 boxes of full house .357 JHP rounds, and I've got some pictures. The left side of the gun is virtually immaculate. I wouldn't have ever even been able to tell its been fired literally. Bore looks like less than a box of rounds have been through it, grips are factory and have ZERO edge wearing on the checkering but they're the rubber pachmyr grips. There is the tiniest spot of surface rust on the back side of the cylinder that is no bigger than a 1mm circle. The right side of the gun looks like it has some dings which show in the picture but really not in bad shape at all. Probably dragged on a rough surface or possibly dropped in a gun sock but no real sharp scratches or rust of any sort. Other than the dings, it looks brand new on the bluing and the crown is perfect. Its a 1981 build by the serial numbers and the action is one of the best revolvers I've ever felt including trigger jobs done on blackhawks, my personal colt trooper, and a lot of Smith 686's. Without adieu, here are a handful of pics to help decide. Also, what would you rate this for percentage based on the above statements and pics. According to the NRA, its probably somewhere between "Very Good" and "Excellent" according to the specs I'm reading.

Lastly, I apologize for the picture quality but my wife has no memory card in her camera and this is the best I could get with my phone.

That last 10% is where all the difference is. A 98% or better 60's Python will probably fetch at least $1400. 99%-100 probably about $1600. It will be considerably less if you go below 96%. What everyone loves is the original bluing. The more of it left, the better.

I'm not a hundred percent but he said "really good condition" so I'm just gonna throw out 90+ for the sake of not knowing what someone elses version of that may be. No holster wear to my knowledge and it may be a 99% gun but we will see this coming saturday. I'm going to be selling a nice pistol to buy it as the Python is on my bucket list of guns.

I got a really clean 1978 satin 6" for 600 bucks about 4 years ago PPT. A local shop had one in similar shape for 1200.

I'll just say he asked a LOT less than that.

Planning on it. Just double checking price. Thinking of selling my Dan wesson pm7 for it. Or a pre lock 1894 in .44mag.

Clean , 100 % original . six inch barrel Python with correct grips , no original box and in 90% condition should START at 800.00 Realistic price range 900-1100.00

Stores want more. Find a private seller.

PS. With Colts there is a HUGE difference between clean 90% and LNIB.

900-1100 realistic? 900-1100 is fantastic- I haven't seen one come up for sale for less than $1300-1400 in a long time..

About a month ago, I handled two blued (4" & 6") Pythons as they were going into consignment at Turners in Signal Hill. They were both 99.9% in as much as I really don't think they had ever been shot. Neither had boxes or papers, though. They were also both post-strike, but I'll be damned if I have ever seen any substantive difference in the models.

I believe they were each going to hit the sales case at $1200. So subtract Turners' cut, and that drops the value down to about a grand, even.

As a side note, I really should have bought the damn things. They must be long gone now.

HUGE difference between 90% and 95+%. I would not pay above $1000 for a 90% Python with or without box.

Again, I'm not sure if its 90, or 99% because he just said "really nice condition" so it could be damn near new for all I know. I'm just kind of trying to get the lowball price. If it has a bunch of wear, loose cylinder, and has been heavily used (which I think his dad got it in the 60's and never really used it) then I won't get it but if its in great shape, I'm going to sell off a toy or two and fund that gun.

$1200 in Turners' case probably lasted a day..

No joke, the 95+% Pythons I've been seeing on gunbroker START at 1200 and are going up to $2500+ for a new python in box correct grips and never fired. They're really raking it in.
