    My backup for hunting

I just picked up my 629 v-comp as my backup pistol for hunting.

    What are you hunting?

It seems like overkill for jack rabbits.

He said back up. As in hunting in the mountains and a bobcat or something attacks you. Kind of hard to defend yourself with a scoped rifle in that type of situation.

I use my XD45 now as my back up but want a wheel gun instead.

Hahaha a bobcat? Has a human adult ever been attacked by a bobcat before? Those things are just large house cats. Have them all over our property and they run away from us faster than the deer.

Yes there have been human attacks by bobcats and yes .44 mag is overkill for them. Awesome gun none the less!

Sure. I don't want to mess with it either. When I bought a new gun and hide it away from my House Cat otherwise she will get piss.

If carrying extra weight around makes you feel better, by all means, carry it. But, if you really think it'll do any good if you are actually being attacked, you might as well stay home and keep smoking your medicine. If you are really afraid of bobcats or mountain lions attacking you, just stay in town where you're more than 1000 times more likely to be killed by falling out of your own bed.

BTW, I know of this dude who hunts cape buffalo in Africa (you know, that place with really big kitty cats, crocs, hippos, mean cape buffalo, killer snakes, etc.) and doesn't carry a sidearm as a back up. But, he's a real hunter and has a pair of really big ones.

Nice gun. I'm looking for a 629 comp carry but can't find anyone who still has them in stock. They may have stopped making that model ?

Is it as nice as I've heard? Does it carry the weight well? How long did it take to get it after ordering?

                          God bless, Fred
