    Customized my Sig SP2022

Just finished my Tier 3 customization for my Sig Sauer SP2022 pistol.

Tier 3 upgrades- OE plastic guide rod replaced with a Stainless Steel version. Full aggressive stippling performed on entire frame (front & underside of trigger guard, front strap, entire backstrap & magazine extension), milled finger notch on trigger guard, milled load chamber indicator, fully polished internals & feed ramp.

It'll be heading back for a Tier 2 upgrade which includes "windows" milled into the slide for a lighter action.

    What do you guys think?

I love the SP2022, that is a neat idea though! Love the setup!

I wouldnt change the guide rod but if it works fine, its all good!

I like the idea of what you've done, but I'm not brave enough on mine. I've read elsewhere that someone with a P229 (I think) had a gunsmith 'polish' the ramp etc. .... after a call to Sig and they said "do that" -- later they nullified the warranty. To me, it does not seem like a modification, but apparently they are tight _$$es????

I have only recently bought my SP2022's -- and my guess is that the mass of the frame is well-defined and balanced for the caliber. Why take out material?

Polishing the feedramp makes there less hangups, if there were any to begin with, with seating the new round. At times I think some people worry to much if it isnt polished. If its running 100 percent its fine. If you have the time/money, it can only help. I had mine done through Sig. It never had issues at all, they threw it in for free and I love having it done so it worked out.

In addition to increasing reliability I didn't see anyone mention the stainless steel guide rod looks sweet too, I love mine!

Who said this increases reliability? I have seen several.....I mean several glocks and 2 sig pros that "upgraded" to a stainless steel guide rod and both issues. If the gun was designed to use a plastic guide rod, I high recommend it.

If this is a range gun, do as you will.

Got my SP2022 back yesterday from GP Firearms after receiving their Tier 2 job.
Window milled into the top of the slide for weight reduction. Designed to allow for a faster action & reduce felt recoil because of the lowered mass of the slide assembly. While @ GP Firearms, I had them restore the slide back to it's original "White Stainless" finish and added a HIVIZ fiber optic front sight

Now I'm thinking of refinishing the slide in a 2-tone ala P226 Equinox style. And have the controls (trigger, slide release, decocker lever & hammer) Nickel plated.

Polish or TiN Coat the barrel? Hmmmmmm
