Your thoughts...Which one to choose?

I have the option of either buying two pistols a Ruger GP100 in Stainless 4" and a Star Model B or one Colt Trooper Nickel 6". Which route should I go? I do need to add a 357mag to my collection.

The gp100 is an absolute workhorse and would be my choice given your options. You should look at a the S&W 686 if you haven't already.

I would also go with Gp100 and the star because you get two guns. I never understood why the colts are so expensive. You can get a smith and even get the combat tuned trigger for the same price. The 686 is great but didn't look like it was an option.

I'd like to own a Python one day, but not for practical reasons, and 'sides the Trooper is a poor cousin. I don't go for flash, so bright nickel is out.

You'll never wear out the GP100, and I'd love to add a Star Model B to my collection because it's used in so many movies as a sub for a 1911, including Saving Private Ryan.
(It works better with blanks.)

Yep, I would go for the Ruger and the Star. I have a Star Model B in 9mm and it is an awesome gun. Mine was made in 1943 and is extremely accurate. A word of warning though. If you do get the Star/Ruger combo, don't dry fire the Star. The firing pins are prone to breakage. Mine broke when my cousin dry fired my Star and no one has firing pins absolutely no one. I tried Bud's, Numrich, Brownell's, etc., nada. I had to have a gunsmith make one for me. Cost me $100.00. Worth it though because the gun is really accurate.

trooper...all the way. i have 2, and shot many rounds, (full house mags), and have had no issues, but early posts, make a point...i am not a "nickel" fan
