    617-4, lock or no lock?

So I saw this on the DOJ approved list:

    617-4 / Stainless Steel Revolver 4" .22 LR 12/31/2008

California has royally screwed all of us here and has banned the sale of older, reliable, no-lock Smith and Wesson revolvers from out of state sellers. I see that the 617-4 4" is on the roster of handguns certified for sale, so if this is a no-lock version of the 617 I'll be picking that baby up before it expires and falls off the roster. Is it a no-lock?

And again, just to moan and groan, when is S&W going to come up with a better design for their internal lock? There is no-way I'd ever buy a gun that has a mechanical feature that offers no benefits and has a history of rendering a firearm inoperable. I LOVE my 629-6 and Smith and Wesson in general, but I'm going to have to learn to take it apart and grind off that little lug to "fix" these locks. Pre-lock Smiths are now the only revolvers I trust...so I had to go and buy a 1980 Model 19 6" that I do the paperwork on this Monday. My parents are going to be Nevada residents in about a month, so the Father-Son transfer will be in full effect as soon as I can find an older 686 or 686 plus with a 2.5 or 3" barrel....

SCSW Shows the 617-4 as a no-lock. The lock was introduced on the 617-5. Keep in mind only the 4 inch BBL is on the approved list.
