    SSE Parts?

I am looking at possibly SSE a 1911. I live in a pretty small town, so I would have to travel to do it at one of the shops listed that are doing it.
My FFL said he is willing to do it.

My question is where are you guys getting the parts for it? Specifically the 7" 1911 barrels?

I found a barrel thru Sarco, but they are out of stock.

    Who is your FFL?

I have a barrel I would lend you if you can't find one or don't want to buy your own...Just cover the shipping and get it back to me when you are done.

      Very cool offer Keen.

I was going to mention the option of having Ryan at Table Rock Arms perform the SSE but Keens offer is pretty awesome.

Thanks for the offer keen, I may take u up on it.

My ffl wants to look into it a little more, since he has never done one. Its Jon's gunworks here in ridgecrest. He runs his shop out of his garage, not a a lot of stock but awesome guy.

Unfortunately the gun I want seems to be out of stock everywhere, but if I can find one I may take you up on your offer keen. Thanks!

Also how r u doing ur sled and make it require a tool to remove?

FYI... the "barrel" is just a factory barrel w/ a thin metal tube extension soldered on... anyone can do it w/ the right sized pipe really...

as for the magazine block... anything that requires a screwdriver/allen wrench/"tool" to install, and blocks a mag from being inserted will count. ie - taking off the grips and inserting a plastic block in the opening so that it's held in place by the frame, then putting the grips back on.

I saw you where in Ridgecrest so I figured you might be using Jon. I have transfered some guns with him and actually have a gun paid for with him that I need to get over there and start the DROS on. He is my favorite FFL and a great guy.

I have a dummy/practice mag that I use w/long grip screws with for the sled...I can lend you the whole kit. PM me if you want and I will give you my info.

If you can get Jon up to speed on the SSE it would benifit us all in the long run so it's a win-win.

Yes, some FFLs will use a factory barrel with a soldered extension, (Valkyrie Arms, etc) but some use professionally fab'ed barrels or cut down barrel blanks. (Table Rock Arms, etc.). Both work, for the 1911 the Sarco cut down is the way to go IMO.

For the mag block you can use a dummy mag like I mention above or on the 1911 you can even just use no mag; You can use dummy grips with a couple of bolts thu them in addtion to the grip screws...makes it impossible to insert a mag of any type.

Lost of ways to do it on a platform like the 1911, thats why I put together my own kit. It was very simple.
