    Shooting Sigs Low

I have a 226 in 9mm that I have had for a while, and recently got a 220 in .45. I seem to shoot low with both. I hold the front sight over the center of the target and at 7 yards it hits about 2 inchs low. Both seem the same. I have had others shoot the 226, including a instructor for a class I was taking and he shot it low as well.

Is that normal for Sigs or is it just me?

I was going to say maybe your anticipating the shot and jerking. Then I read the instructor had the same problem. Try video taping yourself shooting the Sig and maybe another rental gun to see if you are jerking. I know i hate the trigger pull on the sig and it always caused me to be a bad shooter with them.

You sights might be set up for a sight picture using the aligned dots as aiming points.

We used to call this Driving-the-Dots on the Beretta 92/96. Try placing your front dot, when your sights are aligned, in the center of your target

You probably are using sight image 1 and want to use sight image 2.

          This is incorrect.

Current Sigs are sighted for image 3 at 15 yards. Sig calls this a 'combat sight picture'.

Same as H&K 'dead-on hold' I believe. Last time I was at the range I rented a Sig 226/229/2022 9mms and noticed they all sighted up like my USP.

Every aid I've ever shot was always sight image 3. It's a good system buy it does have some issues for new people using it.

You may be having an issue with the trigger reset. I had that issue until an instructor told me what it was. After the shot hold a millisecond before resetting, start slow to get the tining needed.

The internet is like a 12 step group. Take what you need and leave the rest.

I use sight picture 3. I had a HK before and don't remember having this problem. I have tried holding the trigger back then slowly releasing and resetting the trigger. It did not seem to help.

I will have someone else try it and see what happens.

My P220 shoots to sight picture #3. Not my favorite hold, but until my current night sights go dim, I'll work with it.

Same here - I never thought my 220 shot low, but I've been shooting #3 from the start...

Try shooting from a stable rest, see if that still gives you a low shot w/ a combat sight picture.

Sigs/HKs shooting low is a popular symptom. Like other posts above, use image #3.

I am surprised that your instructor was shooting low also. What did he shoot? Glock?

I have been having the same problem of shooting low with my sig P229 in 40. Can someone tell me what hold I should be using with these type of sights?

What number sights are on your sig? Mine are both #8s and I seem to get pretty perfect "center of mass hold" shots when I'm trying for accuracy. My sights are siglites, for the record.
