    Ammo Testing

I have seen many YouTube videos on many different HD bullet brands in the 9mm, Hornady XTP, Speer Gold Dot etc. All of the videos I have seen involve the tester using water filled milk jugs, some filled with shredded paper, some wrapped with denim. I want to conduct my own testing, and so I ask what would my fellow calgun peeps use to test their ammo? From what I have seen, its Hornady XTP, Speer Gold Dot, and Remington Golden Saber appear to be the top three in actual testing. Several videos have shown that Federal Hydra-Shocks have had core/jacket separation.

No test on a non living human being will give 100% accurate results. Then you have the issue that every human is different. There are way too many variables involved, including shot placement. The best you can do is too build a test dummy as close as possible to a human. That would be a monumental task. Humans are not made from 10% ballistic gelatin. Skin, fat, muscle, bone, organs, fluid, tissue, etc all react differently to getting hit with a projectile. No static test will give you results of damage like that on a living human. Then you have the effects of the brain & nervous system. Some people have died from non fatal GSW & some have lived thru fatal GSW. You would be much better off spending your time/money on practice. Shot placement is far more important than using the trendy ever changing ultimate loads.
