    Adding a rail on 1911 ?

I'M picking up a Kimber SS TLE11- 1911 45Cal in a week and was wondering if a rail can be machined into it for a tac light to use for HD, Not saying im going too just want to know if able to and if I do who would you recomend and how much do you think it would cost.
And yes I know they make it with a rail but I could not pass up this deal.

I have a GL21 for HD already, And a G17 tricked out that I use for target fun.

    Your thoughts please

Sell the deal for profit and get what you really want?

In my experience of collecting a deal is just that, a deal. Sell it and get what you really want is my thought on the matter.

Buttttt if you really want a rail here is another thread on the matter with multiple links:

If you don't mind drilling and tapping the frame for more of an integral look, Novak has a nice rail attachment.

          One more from Caspian:

The no drill looks interesting but does it shoot loose?

Drilling and tapping the dust cover for a part seems to be the answer. I've seen this question before. Personally I just use a 200 Lumens handheld that can also be mounted on my AR as a weapons light. Even comes with a remote pressure switch..

The one I linked too OP doesnt require drilling or tapping. It snaps on and it doesnt damage the finish and can pop off whenever you want.

Just trade your 1911 in for another 1911 with a rail it's probably gonna cost you the same amount without the hassle...

I tried the Surefire rail. Adds too much weight and is clunky.

Meh, that would mean doing DROS twice and paying twice. Or three times actually. Once when you buy it, once when you sell it (though you don't need to pay then) then once again when you pick up the new gun! That tacks on at least $50.

Nobody owns just one gun forever. I honestly think adding a rail to your non-railed 1911 will be a mistake you will regret. I didn't want to hear that when I was in your shoes either.

Tacticalcity is right. I would just buy a 1911 with a rail and I have a bit of experience "modding/tinkering/building" 1911's.

If you never plan on buying another 1911, which is just insane, IMO (lol). I would go the drill and tap route from Brownells. Do it yourself and have some fun doing it.
