    Transporting a handgun

Is it legal to transport a loaded magazine if it is not in the gun inside a locked trunk of a car?
    Thanks,

If the question you are asking is:
Can I have loaded magazines for a handgun and lock both of them into the truck with the magazines outside the magazine well?

Then the answer is yes as long as your trunk is truly not accessible from the passenger compartment.

Thanks. I just could not find anything stating that on the DOJ website.

You'll find that DOJ and California Codes mostly say what you may not do*, along with a few things you must do. The trick is deciding whether what you want to do is mentioned - which is not always easy to tell.

(* well, more precisely, what you may be punished for doing; most people take that as 'do not do', to avoid that consequence.)
