You can always have SVI make you one, I heard the wait is over a year, or have Will O'Hare out of Corona order you a SVI slide and SVI frame and he can build you one, Will specialize in competition 1911 "Race" guns, and his work is superb!!! The other option is have Will order the frame and then butcher one of your existing 1911, this will save you coin but you loose a 1911 in the process.

I'm kinda' on the same page as you right now. My plan was to get two new 1911s to satisfy my needs before the new microstaping law goes into effect. I just bought a Les Bear TRS. After a good amount of research, the TRS seemed to be the best bang for the buck. For a full sized defensive arm, it seemed to win out even over other higher priced models. Also, talking to Les Bear himself sold me on his products. It is a top quality, no nonsense weapon.

Now, for a smaller 1911. I'd love to get a Les Bear Stinger, but CA won't allow it. I like the idea of a Officers Model frame and a Commander length slide. I'm thinking seriously about a Wilson CQB Compact. The Wilsons seem to be highly recommended. Many folks have suggested the Kimber CDP Compact as well; it certainly is cheaper, but I'm concerned about its reliability. I really need the best out-of-the-box reliability that I can get. Anybody here have any comments on this? I'd appreciate any input you may have.
