    Problem with Sig SP2022 Backstrap?

I changed the backstrap from the small to the larger one because I have ape hands. When I squeeze the grip it makes a clicking sound... Is the backstrap installed wrong or is this just the nature of having a plastic backstrap on a plastic magwell?

In any event I still can't believe this gun cost the same as a Taurus or Kahr pistol and shoots as nice as a $900 Sig, it must be the most undervalued gun on the market so I'm going to have to buy another one in 9mm because I like my .40 SP 2022 so much.

I also have the 40 but did not have the clicking sound. I suggest you remove the large back strap and then re-install, taking care to see that it fits as tightly as possible.

I had the same problem with the SP2022s that I own. There was a thread on the Sig Forum about this issue a short time ago. One of the members said he ordered a medium size older style grip and it worked better. I did as he suggested, and the older style grip doesn't doesn't click like the med. grips that came with the guns.

      Here's the thread:

I have 2022 and switched to the larger backstrap and have no issues or clicking sounds.

Yup its an absolute steal aint it?

As far as the backstrap I never had that issue, but I hardly ever handled the large backstraps. I never had a clicking sound or shifted around.

I wonder if its just a lemon backstrap. Either way I'd take it on and off a few times and see if it fixes it. Could just be tight tolerances.

              +1 on that.

I also have the new thin, small grip and no click there either.
