    1911 extractor problems..?

It looks like my extactor is catching my rounds and keeping them from smoothly sliding into battery on my 1911. how do I fix this?

There are many extractor tuning vids on youtube.

I prefer to round the lower squarish edge of the bevel area to get a funnel effect so the cartridge slides up under the extractor smoothly.

Hey, I just found a cool drawing of this...I guess I am not the only one who does this:

Check the tension, take the slide off the gun and the barrel out of the slide. Take a dummy round and slip the rim up into the extractor hook just as if the round were being loaded by a magazine when cycling. Turn the slide upright....when you do so, the round should stay put. If it didn't slide in smoothly/easily or falls out then you need to either add more tension or take some off (unless your extractor hook wasn't shaped correctly as shown in the pictures above).

In order to add or take out tension, all you need to do is remove your extractor, put it in the slide backwards to hold it firmly and use your hand to either bend one way or the other depending on which way you need to go with the tension. Remember, a little goes a long way so don't try to go fast with it.
