40 cal. XD

I read in a forum, something about putting a different barrel in a 40 cal XD.
I got the impression that you can get a 40 to also fire 357 sig & 9MM?
If it works, that's great. Just looking for information.
Do you need different magazines? Is a aftermarket thing?
I think that a 40 and a 9 are of a similar size, but are the bolt faces different.

Yes you can convert a .40 Xd to also fire .357 Sig and 9mm Just requires a barrel swap.These guys have the barrels

From what I've heard , you can go from .40 to .357 SIG or visa versa or to 9mm , but you can not got from a 9mm to one of the higher power cartridges,

I've seen where many folks use the .40 mags also for .357 and 9mm, but some folks say they have to bend in the lips of the mags to feed the 9mm shells properly, and at times the XD40 fails to extract the smaller 9mm casings.

Thats correct. You can't convert up from 9mm to (.40/.357/.45) Bar-Sto also offers match or semi drop-in converion barrels for the XD.
