    threaded barrels

I thought threaded barrels on centerfire and rimfire handguns were illegal? I've been talking with JR at lone wolf about his 5.5' and 6' slides. he seems to think that it is ok for me to buy their threaded barrel and install their comp. I was asking if he had any plans on making a 7' ported barrel because threaded barrels are illegal here. he says the law clearly states that its legal for competition. so.. I need clairification.

There are a class of Olympic pistols that can have threaded barrels and his might or might not fall into that class:

Does his handgun fall into one of these exceptions?
    b) The Legislature finds a significant public purpose in
exempting pistols that are designed expressly for use in Olympic
target shooting events. Therefore, those pistols that are sanctioned
by the International Olympic Committee and by USA Shooting, the
national governing body for international shooting competition in the
United States, and that are used for Olympic target shooting
purposes at the time the act adding this subdivision is enacted, and
that would otherwise fall within the definition of "assault weapon"
pursuant to this section are exempt, as provided in subdivision (c).

    (c) "Assault weapon" does not include either of the following:
    (1) Any antique firearm.
    (2) Any of the following pistols, because they are consistent with
the significant public purpose expressed in subdivision (b):

    MANUFACTURER MODEL CALIBER
    BENELLI MP90 .22LR
    BENELLI MP90 .32 S&W LONG
    BENELLI MP95 .22LR
    BENELLI MP95 .32 S&W LONG
    HAMMERLI 280 .22LR
    HAMMERLI 280 .32 S&W LONG
    HAMMERLI SP20 .22LR
    HAMMERLI SP20 .32 S&W LONG
    PARDINI GPO .22 SHORT
    PARDINI GP-SCHUMANN .22 SHORT
    PARDINI HP .32 S&W LONG
    PARDINI MP .32 S&W LONG
    PARDINI SP .22LR
    PARDINI SPE .22LR
    WALTHER GSP .22LR
    WALTHER GSP .32 S&W LONG
    WALTHER OSP .22 SHORT
    WALTHER OSP-2000 .22 SHORT
If it does not it can not have a threaded barrel.

Yes, you'd have to have it blind pinned, or another "permanent" method of installation.

It is my understanding the the P-22 issues were resolved by S&W and BoF with a thread protector and red locktite so that seems to be enough.

I think this has been covered before, and from my memory (too lazy to search), blind pins, or Silver solder were listed as acceptable. Locktite was not. I might be mistaken on the loctite WRT the Walther P22 issue, I'll let someone that owns one comment.

My Tactical Solutions BBL with comp has a blind pin and it's not 100% invisible just so if "someone" asks they can see it, rather than trying to wrench on it and ruining the barrel.

thats what I thought.. what a let down well I'll have to see if efk can make a 7' g21 barrel. they only make 7' 10mm conversions for the 21 hmm.. i hate this state.

edit: wait so if I make the comp permanent I can have it? so I have to leave the barrel in the slide when I clean it then? blarg!

Yes, you would leave the barrel in the slide to clean it. You will find that a lot of people who shoot external comp'ed Glocks do this anyway.
