    Squeezed the trigger no bang!!

Just got two semi nice little astras 75 and 100 the accuracy and ergos are very good. After a few hundred rounds on the first Astra I had two rounds that did not fire (not consecutively) the pin seemed to hit the primer too low or to the side, not hitting the center, has anyone ever had this problem? What can I do to fix? I'm assuming it may just be a simple fp swap.

Now for the other Astra 100 I had the same exact problem except there were no marks on primer unlike the other one. Assuming the pin never struck the primer what could have caused this? Recocking hammer and trying again seemed to work fine and the gun did go off after a second pull....thanks for reading.

I think maybe your firing pins are on the verge of breaking. Have the guns been dry fired much? I had the firing pin on my Star Model B break from my cousin dry firing it. How old are the guns?

I am second or third owner so they maybe old? I dry fired perhaps under 5 times on both. Is there a good source for a date manufactured on these astras? Both of mine look like they're in great condition and like I said before they shot great!

Could be shooter error. Not seating the magazine correctly, bad ammo, you never know. After you have a few thousand rounds through it you will know if there is actually an issue.

If it is a magazine not seating properly issue there are some things you can do.

        1. If you are topping off your magazines, don't. Download by 2 rounds. That will help ensure the magazine is fully seated when doing fast reloads. Better to be 2 rounds lighter then have a gun that won't fire half the time. The goal is to reduce the amount of pressure on the springs so that they are not so stiff that cause the magazine to never reach the point where they are fully seated when loading them. They are not so loose they fall out of the gun, but not in there good enough to load every round properly. The less tension, the less likely this is to happen.

        2. Be deliberate in your loading of the magazine. Get it in there really good and give it a quick bump with the palm of your hand before continuing.

If it is bad ammo, try a different brand. Easy as can be. Some guns just dislike certain ammo. Some brands have a high rate of bad rounds.

The above two things, combined with limp wristing, cause most semi-auto handgun malfunctions. So it is not hard to say they might be to blame.

After a few thousand rounds down the pipe, if it is a routine problem, and you eliminated poor magazine seating and bad ammo, take it to a gunsmith.

Loudest sound you will ever hear in a gun fight is "click"!

Yea I will double check the mags next time. I used yellow box umc. I will be returning to the range soon and retrying them out. Still gona buy new firing pins. It occurred to me perhaps the hammer didn't strike the rear of the pin? Is this a common problem?

Remove the firing pins- if they are broken, replace.

If not broken, clean the firing pin channels and springs REALLY well, oil, reassemble and try again.

I went to the range last night and shift 100 rinds through the a 100 all rounds went bang I only had 2 FTE's at least no dummy trigger pulls...I made sure the mag was locked tight and expected at least he dud round but it went alright. Can't be sure of it till I shoot a few thou like tactical said.
