    Baby Eagle scam.

I thought I'd share with everyone a scam I've recently encountered. I don't know if this has been posted here yet.

A few months ago, I was searching gun classifieds, and I came upon someone selling a Baby Eagle .40 for $200. I promptly sent him an e-mail asking if the gun was still up for sale.

    Yesterday, I received a reply:

Thanks very much for the interest you have in buying my Baby Eagle Hand Gun pistol .The gun is still in a very good condition. The gun is clean, the exterior looks great. This gun is still like a new one.The price of the gun is $200 and that is my last price.I am a USA citizen. The reason why i want to sell the gun at this price is because I was transferred to work in (Australia,Cameroon) and that is where i am presently living and that is why i want to sell the gun at this price because i want to sell it fast since i could not take the gun along with me because it was registered in the US.So before i left USA,i had already arranged with my FFL dealer to help me to deliver the gun to any interested buyer located in any state in the USA.So the gun is presently in USA with my FFL dealer.I have already made all arrangements with her so that she can help me to seall and deliver the gun fast.So if you are really interested in buying this gun then get back to me immediately for the next step. Thanks

At first I was pretty excited. Then:

OK thanks very much for getting back to me so soon. This really show some seriousness and i believe you will be the one to buy my baby eagle. The gun is automatic. It is registered for 2011 and everything is still current and the gun is still like a new one.The gun is currently located in New York at my FFL Dealer and the gun will have to be delivered to you from New York and you will only have to pay for a deposit to to me and once i receive the money i will send your address to My FFL dealer immediately and she will bring the gun to you then when you receive the gun you can complete the rest of the money. The deposit will be $100 then when you receive the gun you can complete the rest of the money that is $100 but if you wish you can just send the complete $200 at once so that everything will move on fast .So all what you will have to do now is just for you to get back to me with your full shipping address which i will forward to my FFL dealer and they will contact you shortly and let you know when she will deliver the gun to you and if you pay for the deposit today then you will get the gun in the next 24 to 48 hours right at your address.I promise you that you will love the gun because it is still like a new one.The gun will be shipped to you with all the documents notarized and singed by me.This gun is still in a very good condition and it is still like a new gun so if you are really serious in buying this gun then you should get back to me with your full shipping address which i will forward to my FFL dealer and she will contact you shortly to confirm shipment and delivery of the gun.I will be needing your full address as follows: Full names Sate City Zip Code House address and your contact phone #. Thanks

Sounds like one of those Nigerian scams or something similar. If things seem to good to be true, its because they usually are.

His last three e-mails have been fun too.

"yes so will you get back to me with your address so that we can proceed?thnx"

I tell him he can't ship to me because I'm in California.

"i can all you need do is send me ur full delivery address so that i can forward it over to my FFl dealer and she will process everything today and the gun will be delivered to you tomorrow immediately you show some seriousness by paying the deposit okay.Thnx"

I tell him again, he can not ship the gun to me.

"all that will bee arranged by my FFL dealer okay i had already made plans with her to deliver the gun to any location in the US so that wont be a problem okay"

At this point I don't have any replies.

you should ask him who the FFL is?

Tell him there's a new law that requires the FFL to hold your money in escrow until the gun arrives, and that your FFL is required to wire the funds directly to the seller's FFL. Since FFLs now must collect tax, they are also required to hold your funds and act as an escrow agent to prevent sellers from defrauding buyers!

Skip the Baby Eagle. I am sure if he is in Cameroon he could sell you an FA RPK. Tell him to include it with the Baby Eagle, or no deal!

Sounds very close to a Craigslist scam. Stay away from people who have been 'relocated' to a different country. Don't fall for it.
