    Raging Bull .454 trigger problem

I have a Raging Bull .454 that I bought about a year ago. I took it out yesterday for it's third shooting trip. The power and accuracy is incredible and it's become my favorite gun to shoot, it's also my night stand gun. Anyway, I've never had the slightest bit of trouble with it. I accidently left a box of ammo at home so when we got out to the desert I only had a bag with 16 rounds in it. Needless to say I was a bit angry lol. But I had plenty of other guns with me so I got over it. Anyway, I shot through 15 rnds and wasn't going to take home one round so I loaded the last round and pulled back the hammer. Problem is, the trigger would not pull. It's normally a pretty light pull, but it was like it was jammed. While keeping the barrel down range I "wiggled" the cylinder and slightly shook the gun. After pulling on it two more times the trigger engaged and fired the round. I took it home and since I can't shoot at home I loaded up some snap caps and went through the trigger actions. It's working perfectly now. I clean the gun every time I shoot it, but I live in the desert and from time to time my night stand can get a bit dusty, also we were shooting in the middle of the desert, so I'm wondering if being dirty could have caused this issue. What do you guys think?

I had this happen a couple times with a Tracker I used to own. Something hangs up inside and you have to bang it around to get it to fire. I took everything out and basically polished off all sharp areas (except for the sear faces). Never had that problem again after that. I believe it was a bur in the linkage between the cylinder lock and hammer. Smoothing everything out fixed it.

Good info. Shouldn't be necessary on a revolver that's a year old and has about 100rnds through it, I think I will make Taurus aware of this, if other people are having problems to then maybe they will look into it.

Thanks. Some people I know say it's massive overkill and "too big", but hey, you never know when a grizzly bear riding an elephant will come bursting into your house.

Taurus is known for having issues such as this and it's the reason I do not own any. If you are comfortable (and mechanically inclined) open it up and check the internals for burrs, remove any you find but do not mess with the sears.

100 rounds is not nearly enough to tell if a gun is reliable or to smooth out the internals. Send it back if you like, they can fix it for you. This is why they have a lifetime warranty.

I'm too lazy to open my safe and look but I think my 44 mag Raging Bull has that safety key lock thing at the hammer.

Maybe the recoil form that 454 shifted the locking mech enough to cause it to hang up?

FWIW I have not had this issue with my Raging Bull.

                Accurate as h3ll gun.

                EDIT....

                Yes this...

                Taurus Security System (TSS)rs
Taurus family of semi-auto pistols all feature the Taurus Security System, which provides instant-ready defense with built-in ability to secure your pistol and make it inoperable at the turn of a key. When the Security System is engaged, the pistol cannot be fired or cocked and the gun's manual safety cannot be disengaged. As with our revolver Security System, the device is part of the firearm and cannot be lost, and the same special Security Key works for both the revolver and pistol Systems (two keys come with each gun). To engage: simply insert the Key into the button on the rear or side of the pistol and rotate one-quarter turn clockwise. This engages the Security System. The manual safety cannot be moved and the trigger cannot be pulled. To disengage: simply rotate the key one-quarter turn back. This releases the Security System, yet leaves the pistol's manual safety in the "safe" position until you are ready to release it yourself and fire the gun.
