hey i just picked up a sig 1911 r. I want a holster for it but cant seem to find one that is built for "sig". My thinking is its a 1911 it should fit into any 1911 holster with rail. Is my thinking correct?

No, the blocky side profile won't fit in most 1911 holsters. I had a cuy shooting IDPA yesterday shooting a GSR and I think he was using a Blade Tech...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's Tale -
Galco makes a few that will fit it...
I have the same weapon and use a Silhouette high ride, COP II and a Miami classic shoulder rig.
They all will work but will take some breaking in!!California, love it or leave it....well after fifty years, sure am glad I left!Comment

I have a Sig 1911R-SSS. There are actually a few good holsters around.
I have these three:
Galco CON612B
You can buy them for around $70 or so, but this is the Galco link. This is my favorite holster, and I have one for my HK USP40 as well. It fits really tight initially, but molded right in after a day or two of wearing the holster. It fits perfectly now, and it's super comfortable.

Galco King Tuk (KT212B) Fits 1911, 5" rail guns
This holster also fits my Springfield TRP full rail. They run around $50.

The holster should be worn in the 4 o'clock position of thereabouts.

Blackhawk Serpa
Some guys love them, some guys hate them. With proper training, you won't have a problem. I can hit the release lever and my finger is always over the frame, and never the trigger. Higher profile, but durable and nice when hiking around or climbing over stuff where a leather holster with only basic retention might be a problem, this thing holds on tight until the lever is pushed. About $50 or so. I'd find one in a gun store, and ask the guys to let me test fit it to my gun. Good gun stores will let you test for fit.

I don't think it's nice,...you laughing.
You see, my mule don't like people laughing.
He gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him.
Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to,
I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.Comment
