Loved my Longslide hardballer. Each one maybe different. I heard a few were poor. Not my experience. Shoot it first before you buy. They are awesome.

I've got one, had to get the trigger cleaned up to about 4 lbs. Ive put about 200 rounds through it w/o any problems. Dont shoot it much.

I had one of the poor ones. It never functioned correctly, smiths wouldn't work on them, and I finally disposed of it.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

My dad has one and my grandfather has a few. They are not all that great. The rear adjustable sights suck on the three 1911's that they have. My dad has a springfield 1911 9mm that is quite nice. They have a better reputation but a price to match as well.

Even as the company is out of business, 1911's parts a abundant.
If the price is right, no reason not to...hope its a great deal.

I bought one from B&B Sales (remember them..lol) back when they first came out. Paid $1000 cash for it. Piece of crap. It would never feed anything but hardball and occasionally would jam on that.

Very poor fit between the slide and frame; the screws on the rear sight would fly off and get lost. The barrel bushing was sloppy. I was lucky to sell it for $400 years later. I personally wouldn't buy one for more than $350 and even then would consider something else. The Hardballer was a FIRST GENERATION Stainless 1911 copy. They did a bad job.

I have heard hit and miss. My long slide was tight, and fed my 185 gr xtp's great. I would buy one again, a long slide, for a $1000 when the time is right, and I can examine it. One sold here end of feb for $1250.

I have not had problems with mine, but I have not shot it a great deal.

I had a Hardballer on my list for a while, but passed after talking to a lot of owners. There was a lot more dissatisfaction with the weapon than there were happy campers.

A lot of the AMT's had problems with galling of the stainless steel. That's a pretty difficult condition to remedy.

Arcadia Machine Tool has been out of business for quite some time. If the price is right on your candidate weapon, and it's had a number of rounds through it and hasn't galled, it may be worth a chance. I would check it out very carefully, particulalry for signs of galling.

One previous poster commented on hardball ammo. AMT made the "Hardballer" as a clone of the Government Model. It was designed only to feed 230 grain hardball ammo and it was sold with documentation alerting the buyer to that design "feature". If that was the version of AMT owned by that poster, then the weapon really should not be faulted for not functioning well with other ammo.
