    Jailed: 44 Ruger Superblack Hawk

just purchased on consignment for $450 in absolute perfect condition a 44 Super Blackhawk (with a very nice and dark bluing). The gun appears to have only been fired a couple times.

what do you guys think of the price?

      Underbarrel warning, or side-barrel?

I'd rather have an underbarrel gun, as that marks a major engineering upgrade to how the cylinder was made, starting in 2007.

Not sure what you mean by under barrel gun.

Ah. The "lawyer's warning billboard" ("read the manual" and the like) - is it side-barrel or under-barrel?

On a large-frame Ruger SA the underbarrel warning tells you it has the improved cylinder. There's an exception: the 50th Anniversary 44Mag Blackhawk Flattop (NOT marked "Super") first shipped in 2006, it's a side-barrel warning, but it was the first large-frame to get the new cylinder process.

On the mid-frames, the barrel warning location doesn't matter in terms of quality, from 2004 forward. They all have the new cylinder process, such as the New Vaquero, Montado and all the other "Flattop Blackhawk" variants in 45, 44Spl and 357 (which are really "adjustable sight New Vaqueros").

            Sounds like a cool revolver.

Is Ruger applying this improved cylinder manufacturing to all their revolver models? I have an 80s SBH SS with a 10.5" barrel and it is very accurate. You can never go wrong with a Ruger, but I wish they would make the SRH 454 Casull a 5 shot instead of 6.

If I recall the warning was side barrel.
