JHP's are good bullets, but you're probably looking for a bullet on top of powder, with a primer, all crimped and pressed together in a nice case! If it's *ammunition* you seek, and not just bullets, Federal HST and Winchester Ranger are excellent choices in +P 124gr. or 127gr. loads.

Id recommend trying a few different boxes of the major brands. See what you gun likes, feeds, and shoots well and also what you feel good shooting. Some brands which make great defense rounds include hornady, federal, mag tech, corbon, speer, and winchester.

+1 Winchester Ranger +P+. I favor the 124-127gr. load in the longer barrel. 115 is good from shorter barrels, but actually fragments and underpenetrates out of longer ones, such as the G17.
Cor Bon 125 gr. +p is decent too- just test whatever you're going to use in your gun.

Ditto on testing several different types and brands. Each gun is different and will like different bullets. I have my Glock loaded with Winchester 124-grain +P right now because that's what mine liked best.

I have federal hydra shocks in 124g for my home defense magazine. I have a second magazine with Rangers in 124g. and another magazine with black talons which I don't really need but I had to have them .

I have a G19. It's my IPSC and IDPA gun. It got 20-30K rounds thru it.

For general shooting, I either shoot:
                  - WWB(Winchester Whitebox from Walmart) Bulk 100rounds, FMJ
                  - my presonal reloads, with Zero's JHP 147gr or FMJ 125gr

                  My self defence choice:
                  - Federal +P JHP
                  - Federal LE +P+ JHP

Now, you DO have to practice and practice and practice with THE ammo you are planning to use so that you are comfortable and know exactly what to expect when you pull the trigger....

Funny you should say that because I was looking at this and am considering getting it. http://www.outdoormarksman.com/produ...products_id=51 Is Wolf that bad for practice ammo? I have not heard anuthing negative about their pistol ammo.

+1 on the Hydra-Shoks. Also, my Beretta 96 eats PMC like a monster, and never belched once.(No FTF/FTE)
