    Sig 226 and short trigger

Just wondering for those of you who have changed your standard trigger to a short trigger on your 226, how do you like the change?

    I wear about a 7 1/2 to size 8 glove.

Currently I feel the Double action pull just borders on a bit of stretch for me. But the single action pull feels fine for me with standard trigger.

When you switched to a short trigger, if it improved the ergonomics and reach on your DA? But did it worsen the ergonomics on the single action?

*** Just to avoid confusion, I am referring to the short trigger, and not the short reset trigger (SRT) ****

    thanks in advance!!!

Sounds like your hands and mine are about the same size.

The first thing I do when I buy a Sig ( new or used) is replace the guide for a stainless steel one from Steve Bedair, and change out the standard trigger for a short one. It makes all the difference in the world.

I also change out the grips to the E2's on the 228's and 226's. These slim grips also make a big difference.

All of these things aren't too difficult to do. I just order the parts from Top Gun Supply and do the swap outs here at home.

If you are local to me and need a little help, shoot me a PM. I'm always happy to lend a hand to a fellow Sig Guy.

IF the SA feel comfortable, I wouldn't change to the Short (thinner) trigger. It will shorten the reach just enough to change your straight back press to a sidewards pull...as you're now pass full compression with your trigger finger.

Since they've been mentioned, I'd recommend the Graygun's Fat Guide Rod over the Bedair (also available from Top Gun) as it fills the hole in the slide better.

The E2 grips will shorten the reach to the trigger, but be aware that it also forces your hand lower on the backstrap

my suggestion to you is to find (if possible) a P226 with the short trigger already installed; try it out and see what you think... before purchasing one for your P226.

i too, found the reach of the standard trigger on my w german P226 (many years ago) to be just a tad too far for my ergonomic ideal. so i went with the short trigger. bottom line... the short trigger reach was too short, and i went back to the standard trigger.

short trigger is the way to go!, that and the hogue g10 grip make it ALOT better to handle with smaller hands made my 226 feel totally differnt!

              +1
The Houge grips did wonders for me and my 226. I have small hands and with the grips I didn't need the short trigger.
