    HK USP Expert 45 advice

I'm in the market for one, any major reason I shouldn't get one that I might have over looked? I don't really care for the adjustable sights, if anyone knows can they be changed out with fixed night sights? I know the adjustable sights are mounted on the slide differently so I'm not so sure on switching them. And last question, anyone seen or know of any stores that have them in stock. I know it's pretty much up to HK when they want to produce them. I also heard a rumor they are discontinued. I called my usual local shops with no luck, I even, with great hesitation, called Turner's, and they said they only get them like twice a year. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I can't help with the sight question but I'll encourage you to keep trying to find one. I've had one for awhile now as a safe queen; with a Hogue Handall it fits my hand like a glove. I found it back when CDNN was blowing .45 Experts and .45 Elites out the door for $899.
A good rifle build isn't cheap, but a bad one can be expensive!

My house; like the White House, is NOT a gun free zone!

I have one in .40 and they are great guns -- great trigers. As far as the sights go, anywhere that mills their own site installations (novak, etc) will be able to put fixed sights on them. There aren't any off-the-shelf drop in replacements afaik.

I thought I would hate the adjustable sights too, but I've run them for a couple of courses now and they didn't end up getting moved at all, so I'm sticking with them.

I would keep the adjustable sight ... the one up adjustable sights has over fixed sights is you can adjust the sights for your load or factory ammo ...

First find the gun....then worry about the sights.

No...there is no reason why you shouldn't get one. If you find one (at a reasonable price) get one!

Haven't seen any fixed night sights but Meprolight has adjustable n/s.

            yes, discontinued

Great gun! There is no reason not to get it if you can afford it. Keep the sights, they work well.

Heinie Night sights are the best in the fixed sights department...

Try dawson precision for fiber optic...

good luck but in my opinion I would rather have the stock adjustables than the fixed because different ammo, different point of aim, different point of impact... with the adjustables you can adjust it to hit where you want it to hit

                ps try here:

You can get various sights at hkparts. The expert is a great gun. Longer barrel length and sight radius than the standard usp and match trigger.

I love mine, and I put on adjustable night sights. This is the first pistol I have owned with an adjustable sight and they are nice to have. get one you will not regret it.

Do you guys with the 9mm and 40S&W have the jet funnel mag well installed? Is it a completely different magazine or can you just swap the baseplate and spring? Called a few different stores today with no luck...

I found one in 40S&W, AI date code, but still brand new...in jail it now sits

It has the jet funnel, but they are not giving me the mags...so I just ordered 6 rebuilds and the tactical USP adjustable nights sights from hkparts. It will sit nicely with my USP45f and 45c. Thanks for all the advice.

I had an Expert 40. It wasn't too much heavier than my USP .45 but that extra length turned the thing into long gun accurate. The sights worked well for me.

USP Expert deserves adjustable sights... for me, adjustable night sights would be the only upgrade I'd consider. It's built for competition and accuracy. During load development the adjustable sights on mine came in real handy.

I have 2 of them (a 45 and a 40) and they shoot better than most customer 1911s that cost 2 to 3 times as much.

here is my review of mine with an unproven hot load.
