    What should YOU get?

I see a lot of posts where people say, what should I get? This or that? 9mm or .40? and then people will comment on their favorite, this that or the other. Sometimes an argument is the result. "This is better than that because of this..."

    Here is the truth,

Go in search of a gun that you can afford, that shoots ammo that you can afford. Look for something that YOU like. Like the way it looks, like the way it feels. Try to find the best of all three in your price range. If money is no object, then buy 1 of everything! LOL Do your research before buying. Read reviews on the gun you are interested in, read the history of the manufacturer. Watch youtube reviews and videos of it being shot. If you have a range in your area that rents guns, go rent one (if they have it) and shoot it a few times. Pay attention to how it feels in your hand. If it feels awkward or like you can't get a firm grip, it's probably not the right gun for you. If it feels perfect but you just wish it had a little more grip, look into some aftermarket grips like hogue or pachmayr.

I have a .40 for HD and a 9mm for shooting at the range because 9mm ammo is cheaper for me. I eventually would like to own a 1911 as well, and, a bunch of other guns, over time I hope to own everything I could ever possibly want. But since I am not rich, I try to find the absolute best bang for my buck and so far that rule of thumb hasn't made me unhappy.

I like it when my friends ask me, "which gun should I get?". I point them towards the one I want the most. That way I get to shoot it before I buy it from them when they end up not liking it.
