I am Sgt. Andrew Bowen, USMC and I recently started a training program that focusses on the human behavioral response to close combat. I have spent the last four years teaching this in the Marine Corps to my fellow infantrymen, but am curious what the civilian interest for something like this is.
My former company commander, a former Recon Platoon Commander and Silver Star recipient subscribes to a certain school of thought: there are behavioral characteristics that make a difference in close combat and with training, can help armed professionals be successful. HE chose me to be one of his Marines to train in this discipline and study combative behavior with Hunter Armstrong of ICS, advisor to the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and tactical advisor to Marine Recon, Marsoc, and a number of other special operations groups around the world. After training with ICS a number of times I was certified as an instructor and brought the combative behavioral conditioning training to my fellow Marines. I have since been honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, and with Mr. Armstrong's permission, have started offering courses in the understanding of combative behavior and its application to close combat. The course is called CTAP (Combative Training for the Armed Professional) and has become one of the choice training programs for special operations units around the world.
Like I said, I am just starting out and am interested to see what the interest is for the training. Please visit my website at baytac.com to get more information on the CTAP and contact me directly to leave feedback.
Thanks for taking the time to review my post. Happy shooting....
