    Changing Barrel down to 9mm

What are the most popular makes and models that people use to buy a larger calibur then buy a 9mm barrel to swap out to make it 9mm and shoot cheaper ammo.

2nd part what is involved in doing this? Barrel and firing spring or simply a barrel?

I don't regret burning some bridges. I regret that some people weren't on those bridges when I burnt them!

I have only really seen .40 S&W to 9mm conversion kits, you don't even need to change out the mags (recommended but not necessary).
I support the NRA, if you are not in, you can't win.

For many guns you'll have to swap out or otherwise modify the slide to decrease the size of the breech face. You may also have to tune the recoil spring weight to get proper function.

My wife has a Sig 226 that was originally a factory .40S&W. She bought it as a 9mm and it functions flawlessly. The guy she bought it from claimed he only swapped the barrel and nothing more (it's a nice match barrel too) so it's still got the .40S&W breech face.

I have a CZ-75 in 40sw with both 9mm and 22lr conversions for it. The 22lr is a complete top end but the 9mm only requires a conversion barrel and mags. I got my barrel from EFK but would strongly recommend you find another company to buy from. (For any make of pistol) I had to return two EFK barrels before getting one that was not grossly out of spec. Also my stock mags would only hold a couple 9mm rounds without spitting them out so I had to buy 9mm specific magazines for it. I think you'll find that to be the case with most of them. The 40sw feed lips are just to wide to hold 9mm securely. Overall function has been very good with it thus far though.

Glocks + LoneWolf Conversion Barrels are probably the most common combinations. But there are other barrel makers and of course other guns.

In a .40s&w to 9mm Glock conversion, in my opinion and experience, simply dropping in the barrel is enough. I wouldn't say it is necessary to swap springs or extractors since a conversion is mostly used for range practice. I would recommend putting everything back to stock configuration if you also use the gun for home defense.

Iver personally used a G23 with barsto 9mm conversion barrel and G19 mags and an M&P .40 w/ stock S&W 9mm barrel and mags and had great success. Only 1 FTE with the M&P in 200+ rounds (so far all 200rds + rounds were Jack Ross reloads.

Other then barrels and mags there was no other work done to either pistol.

Im getting the M&P40 just for this reason... just the barrel and mag is needed...

But you can swap to a 22 but you need a complete top frame...Im just tryong to shoot 9 at the range to save a few $$

M&P40 with a conversion barrel and magazines will shoot 9 with no other modifications.

+1 on LoneWolf conversion barrel for Glocks. I use one, and it works great.

I have a Glock 35 .40cal and now using a LoneWolf 9mm conversion barrel. Bought a few 9mm mags and I was good to go. Didn't have to change the extractor or ejector.

I have a Lone Wolf .40 to 9mm conversion barrel for my Glock 22 and a Bar Sto Conversion barrel for my Sig 226. No problems at all with either gun, I also swapped magazines because I felt the .40 mags didn't hold the bullets very securely. The reason you don't have to change the ejector with a Conversion barrel is because the bore is offset inside the barrel to account for the original guns ejector location.

Glocks are pretty popular for this.
