1911 grip question

having no knowledge about 1911s, are all 1911 grips interchangeable? my buddy is getting a sig sauer scorpion for his b-day. i would like to get different sets of grips for him.

All government and commander sized 1911s have interchangeable grips. Officer sized grips are smaller.

Don't wanna be a jerk, but why would one switch the sexy G10 magwell scorpion grips ? Unless he wants another set.

I'd get him a tac light or something instead, good 1911 grips ain't cheap.

The scorpions grips are so nice... There is no need to change them.

Get him a holster or more magazines instead.

While many 1911 grips are interchangeable, don't forget that some 1911's with ambi safeties have the "tang" that sticks down and slots underneath the right grip. The alumagrips website offers the grips either with or without the slot.

Also, the really thin grips are not interchangeable unless you change the bushings as well.
