Luck favors the prepared.
The original battle plan did not survive initial contact with the enemy.

Triggers are not barstock. They are aluminum with stamped steel bows. The original steel triggers on the Gold Cup caused Colt to make special provisions on the sear because of the weight of the trigger.
Any name brand is good but be prepared to fit the shoe to the frame. Triggers are typically too tall. You may have to do some fitting to get the pretravel right and possibly the grip safety.Comment

Since you have a normal 1911's a gold cup trigger will not fit, since the trigger itself is wide.
The trigger bow is exactly the same though.
Pic for ref./fun:

You want the trigger a light as possible (in weight) so aluminum or polymer is the way to go.
Lighter = faster trigger pull.
STI are the ones that makes polymer triggers.
I am a fan of the flat trigger, check out Caspian's Trik Trigger
Oh, someone needs to make me a flat gold cup trigger :-\Comment
