I don't think lightweight would be a descriptor for just about any 1911

      I'm interested too.

Closest thing I know is Dan Wesson Guardian, comes with an aluminum slide. But it's commander sized

        Springfield Armory EMP 9mm
Heard its a very well handling 1911 and I love the feel of it.
Just cant bring myself to spending $1300 or so for it.

Also for full size, Rock Island Armory 1911 9mm version, but I dont think its lightweight by any means.

I've shot the EMP and loved it. It's an option but I'd prefer the size version. I'll keep looking.

May I ask why you need a lightweight version? Is it for CCW?

One of the best things about shooting a 9mm 1911 is how the weight of the gun makes shooting 9mm feel like nothing.

Most light weight 1911's will be of the non-full sized version.
Can't think of a full sized aluminum/alloy full sized 1911.

I would like a Colt lightweight defender 9mm someday

The only manufacturer that I know of that makes a light weight, full size 1911 is Nighthawk Custom, but be prepared to pay upwards of $4,000 for a titanium pistol.

Dan Wesson Gaurdian would be my pick.

keep an eye out for the new rock river poly 1911s.

Something about a polymer receiver just seems to completely detract from the novelty of a 1911.

If getting a 1911, get it in .45. It'll be most reliable in the round it was designed for.
