loose barrel

I have an old single action revolver and the loctite(correct spelling?) on the barrel has become old and the barrel was able to unscrew. My question is what would be the best loctite to use to use on it? I want to be able to get the barrel off if I ever have to. The revolver is a J.P. Saur and Sohn and says made in West Germany and its in .22lr, nice gun and very good quality.

Red 277. Thats the high strength large bolt type. Or use another brands high strength version. Its a revolver so you're probably not cooking the stuff from the heat, but if you get it hot enough that you notice the joint smoke from the loctite burning off you may want to use a high temp epoxy instead.

That's interesting. Most barrels are installed without lock-tite, just torqued against the shoulder cut in the barrel.
