don't know where to post this. If I want to carry a knife what is the the legal size/type I can carry? If it makes a difference I'm in San Diego.

CA state law is very generous as to size...just about anything you'd like...but, counties can have more restrictive rules. For example, San Francisco limits blade length to 3" for a legal folder carried concealed (in your pocket).
You should either call the local LEA or refer to the County Codes for find the legal length for your area.
I usually carry a 3.5"-3.75" folder around home, but have a 3" on order when making a trip into The City. A fixed blade is nice, but carrying one concealed is a felony...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment
