There's also a condition of not enough reset. His disconnector might just be making contact with the sear legs, not enough to fully trip the hammer when pulling the trigger back.

Or his trigger bow might be long and out of spec.

Or his 3 leaf spring is improperly tensioned.

Or some other parts are out of spec. His disconnector is a common part between the two setups and he hasn't looked at that either.

There are many other possibilities too. Hopefully its as simple as a set screw.

Are you using the stock disconnector? Once you start mixing up parts it is hard to get it working right away unless luck is with you. Your grip safety and safety may not function correctly much less even fit in there. If you feel your up o the task keep checking how everything moves in relation to the parts you currently have. Change one part like a hammer or sear and your back to square 1.

Pretravel can be tested by holding the trigger back, racking the slide so the hammer only goes to half cock and letting the trigger go. If it resets, there is plenty of pretravel. If it doesn't, then more is needed.

Try removing the thumb and grip safeties and see if the problem persists. This will also provide you with some nice windows to visually inspect clearances.
