I have an Insight and X300. Both are LED and super bright. The Insight has a strobe function but I use the switches on both in a momentary style.

      Streamlight all the way.

      I have a Streamlight TLR-1S on my M&P 15-22, a TLR-3 on my HK USP .40, and a Streamlight polytac on my Hawk 982.

Every weapon needs a good light.

I also thought a laser would be useless until I tried one (TLR2S). The laser/light combo allows you to aim, say around a corner, without having to line up the sights. Also, keeping the gun drawn lower will improve your peripheral vision. I wouldn't bother with the strobe only because it takes longer to activate. Anyways, any current streamlight or surefire will not disappoint, but streamlight's are half the price.

              I think you won't go wrong between a TLR-1S or X300,
I have both but the X300 is brighter.

+1 for a Surefire x300, also get a set of Crimson Trace Lasergrips point, shoot, repeat.

                FWIW, I have a Sig 226R in .40 cal.

OP you should have titled the thread what weapon light do you have that you take off when you go to the range and shoot your 500 rounds downrange annually .

Maybe surefire is overhyped to some but I just can't see myself having anything other than surefire for a defensive handgun. I vote x300 go used pick up the best for $175 and be done with it.
