    1911 Commander Size suggestions

Thinking of purchasing a Commander size 1911. Specifically a 1911 with a full size grip with 4"-4.3" barrel. These are easy enough to find, but I'm looking for one that comes factory with the following:
    1. Steel construction (but not stainless steel finish or aluminum)
    2. Front cocking serrations
    3. Both front and rear cocking serrations that are not "GI" (small verticle cuts)

For some reason, I can't seem to find a factory build with all of the above features. I've checked all the big names - Colt, Kimber, Springfield, etc. I know I can purchase something close and send it off to a custom shop, but trying to save a bit of cost. Any thoughts appreciated.

    Thanks,

You will have a tough time with item #2 since most Commander length 1911s do not have forward serrations. Probably something you need to have done custom.
I voted against Obama before it was cool.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

      What about a Nighthawk GRP?

Ok. The T3, the GRP II, or whichever one is the commander length.

What about an Ed Brown Karry?

ETA: I didn't miss it. Unlike many on this website, I actually read the whole post and also don't just read what I want to see.

Well, if you can skip your rule #1 and live with stainless steel, what about a Colt XSE Commander?

If you don't mind the bob tail this is a great looking Commander, IMO.

I believe the gun you are looking for is the Colt Commander Wiley Clapp model. It is not on the CA approved list but a buddy of mine has done SSE on a couple of them. It's a great pistol and I believe it has all of the features you mentioned. It's a very nice shooter. Would love to get one myself but I just found a used Colt Commander that someone had done all the work on already for a good price, otherwise that is exactly what I would do. Good luck with the search.

Wiley Clapps have alloy frames, which the OP says he doesn't want.

Heh, well I thought I had seen it in a photo in the 1911 album here on this forum. I didn't know the model designations, but I had been pretty sure that Nighthawk made one. You learn something new everyday.

I don't think I've ever seen a commander that came stock with front cocking serrations. If I were in the market for a commander sized 1911, I'd look at either the Dan Wesson CBOB or the Ed Brown Kobra Carry.

Ooops. My bad. I was close though. LOL!

Here is another one, and it has everything you listed above.

I'd go with a Dan Wesson CBOB...

Wow, thanks for all of the suggestions. The Wiley is ohh so close. I did see the SIG, but I didn't like the color. I'm thinking I'm probably going to be stuck with something close and sending it away for some custom final touches.
