P229 Enhanced Elite - Magazine + 22lr Conversion kit

I'm eagerly anticipating the arrival of my new P229 enhanced elite.

Does anyone have first hand experience on which magazines I need to order? Does it require the E2 magazines, or will a standard P229 magazine work?

Also can someone confirm that the .22lr conversion kit will work with the P229 Enhanced Elite (unsure since the California edition has a LCI and Magazine disconnect)?

What caliber did you buy?? Last time I read up on this, I was told that all of the models that use the newer Grips use the .40S&W frames, whereas the older Sigs had a different frame for 9mm and .40S&W. So if you bought a .40 S&W model, you should be fine with the older .40/.357 mags. However, if you purchased a 9mm, you will not be able to use older 9mm mags. Hope that makes sense.

The new 229 models will work with both versions of the 9mm magazines. However, the older versions can be a little loose and could cause feeding issues. I've used both and not had a problem but it is possible they could occur. For self defense, I only use the new magazines but for range use, the older ones have worked well.

The older magazines I have are labeled 229/9mm. The new magazines are labeled 229-1.

I've used a .22 conversion on the newer standard 229 frame and it worked fine. Be aware that the slide does not lock back after the last shot is fired - I hear there are aftermarket products to eliminate this but my wife decided to get a dedicated .22 instead. Other than that, it worked as advertised.

I've been extremely happy with my P229 Enhanced Elite which fires great.

I also ordered the .22LR conversion kit and unfortunately it doesn't work with the CA P229 EE because of the Maagzine disconnect.

Anyone have any suggestions on a fix?

You can get a last round bolt hold back follower for the P229 22kit from SigPower. The follower goes into the magazines so you need one-per-magazine.

Mag disconnect Sigs have been floating around for a while (at least since 2004).

Sigs really were not designed to have a mag disconnect and they were just bubba-ed into the design, I'm not surprised that adding one in breaks all kinds of things. I suggest you remove or disable the mag disconnect, but since I have not personally taken apart a P229 with the disconnect I can not give you a list of parts that need to be replaced.

Try calling greyguns and asking them how to disable it. They probably know.
