    Tiny--- Kel Tec P11 (9mm) @14oz's

SO I bought one of these tiny "pocket rockets" from a fellow CG'r and cant wait for my new tiny 9mm. Just curious what other P11 owners think of thiers and grouping at close range.

THIS is not a Kel Tec haters thread. Yes tiny glocks are nice but at more then twice what I paid?...no thanks. This pistol is going to be in my pocket while around my property. Getting the morning paper,,,slip it into my bathrobe. Mowing the back field...you get the idea.

So Kel Tec P11 owners please share your storys of the little P11's...
    Thanks Bart

    I have one...

I have one of these as one of my carry guns. Not a bad handgun, but the trigger is probably its glaring weakness. I bought a 'trigger shoe' from Kel-Tec to try and improve the trigger, but based on my struggle to install it and similar stories I've read online, I'm not going to proceed any further with it.

Do I trust it? Yes. Would I trust a Ruger or a Glock more? Yes.

I CC one on must days. It is very light, compact, reliable (shoots anything I feed it) and surprisingly accurate for how small it is. The trigger is horrid but I have mastered it. You really can't beat the p11 for what it is and it's price.

I will say this, the finish is garbage and it's "melt-in" front sight sucks but for a good CC gun that costs under $300, it is a hell of a deal.

        thanks guys,
I did alot of reading on them. And other then the mile of trigger pull, they seem to be pretty good all around and have an almost cult following. I've reserched some simple trigger mod's...ect ect. Price was cheap, bought it from a CG'r who is a LEO. Thing looked better then new. LEO's seem to take good care of thier tools.
        Thanks

Not the right weapon if your looking for tight groups at 15 yards.

If your looking for an easily concealable weapon that goes bang everytime. It'll work fine. One of my carry weapons.

Solid and reliable ccw piece. Not for target or precison shooting. Very under rated for what it was designed for which is a lightweight high capacity ccw piece.

Dismissed by those haven't carried it on a day to day basis.

With a loaded mag (10 rnds), weighs the same as a glock 26 with an empty mag.

Heavy trigger that makes it go bang in crude fashion. It works.

Thin for a double stack, less chunky than a g26, like a Kahr but lighter.

Some may have 15 or 20 round smith wesson 5906 magazines that work fine in it.

Belt clip option great for ccw...

Thanks. I wasn't looking for a long range pistol, just a lite small gun not in .380. I figure at 7 yards or less, if it works and groups then this one would be perfect for me. I already bought a houge Jr. and 2 more Mecgar (factory) mags and the pinky grip for the P11. Once I'm inside my house there are bigger and better firearms, but none will be lighter!!!. I just don't want to tote a 45acp around while gardening or working on something out in the back of my house.
              Cheers

I used a little epoxy to help make sure the trigger shoe stays in place.
I strongly recommend the trigger shoe as it is much more comfortable on the finger and due to its thickness it moves your finger forward a little, lessening the percieved length of trigger pull.
It does have a long pull, but for a no-manual-safety gun I prefer this.

It is almost the exact same size as a Smith J frame snubbie but at 10+1 capacity the Kel Tec takes the win come carry time.
The belt clip is nice, in my very limited backyard and at home carry tests I did actually forget about the gun in my waistband one time...that's a good sign considering how little I have done this.

BTW...Yes the Smith mags work, also Ruger P-series mags will work as they are the same shape as the Smith mags... you do have to add a mag catch slot to the Ruger mags, though.
