Someone who has killed in self-defense answers questions

Not my thread. Found it and thought some of you who often ask about self-defense scenarios would be interested.

Thanks, that was a very good read. Very sobering how he has to live with the threat of retaliation now.

I agree with one of the comments, of how many people on gun forums talk about a home invasion, like it would be a personal birthday gift, or some form of validation.

I hope none of us would have to go through that, but at the same rate, it is a also a reason why many of us prepare as though we might have to. The after effects on his life was very interesting.

Very sobering read. In purchasing a firearm, ive thought about self defense only a little (there are hardly any break ins where i live). I have read up on the laws regarding home self defense but not the reprecussions after the fact. It will definetley make me rethink the use of the firearm in self defense, although in that moment with adrenaline pumping and your / your family and animals life in danger, things might go out the window.

Nineteen years later and I can still tell you that lethal force is a radically life-changing event, even if there are no legal or vindictive repercussions. Train your mind and your ability to be ready, but you also need to train your heart to accept the change. No regrets, since I would do it again under the same or similar circumstances, but be ready mentally too. It isn't like they portray it in the movies.
