CZ 75b, what would you do?

My Dad just picked up a BNIB CZ 75b. The sights are off. The pistol shoots 4-5" left at 10 yards. He ordered the pistol straight from CZ for whooping 460!() He and I like the gun just fine but want to shift the rear dovetailed sight.

So heres the question 1)...Send it back to CZ for them to drift it.(They said no problem)

    2) Pay and take it to the local smith. No shipping or wait time...like a band aid...get it over with

    3) Let me go at it with a brass punch I've done others. If it where my pistol...I'd go all punch and ball pen. But alas it's not my gun.

Any thoughts on what way to roll? and why

    Thanks
    Bart

I usually move the sights with a hammer and a a piece of hardwood hammer handle. It won't mar the finish. Here are some delrin puches cheap. Maybe the guy has some left. I got a set from him and they were shipped fast. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...t=delrin+punch

They are easy to move. I use a brass punch and small hammer. Go for it!

Hammer and brass drift, beware that CZ dovetails can be tight.
I move a machinist vise to the concrete floor, set it on end so the strike force is vertical into the concrete. My very sturdy bench mounted vise has enough give to make the task more difficult.

If the gun is new there should be the test firing report in the case behind the foam. I would take a picture of your group and send it back to CZ. If it's truly that off they owe you a shirt or something.

I would verify that the sights are off and it is not the technique.

^^^Ditto that. Either shoot it off a bag or have a good pistol shot test the gun. If it is indeed the sights, then I'd drift it myself. A flat punch made of a material strong enough to move the sight but soft enough not to mar/damage it in the process would be ideal (aluminum, brass, etc.). Wrap the slide in a leather belt, clamp it solidly in a vise, then punch it in the correct direction (right to move POI right, left to move POI left, viewed from rear). A sight pusher would be even better, but they're not cheap.

Do it yourself. I install glock sights using glock mags lol

thanks for some input. He's just a little nervous about a welder going all "hammer time" on his new baby lol. But I assured him I'd go easy and go machinest slow and steady
