    Loading a magazine

So I have owned a .357 revolver for over 10 years and recently replaced it with a new 9mm Glock 17. Being my first semi-automatic I have educated myself on cleaning and maintenance etc....

My question here is, (without trying to sound dumb) but are there any "tricks" to loading rounds into the magazine? I have medium-large size hands that are pretty strong, but it seems that by the 7th round it starts getting hard to load the rounds, and 8 is about my limit. (in a 10 round magazine) I "can" get the 9th one in there but it seems like a waste of energy not to mention sore fingers and thumbs. I have yet to get a 10th round in a magazine.

Part of the break in process. You might try using the magazine loader, it can help.

I've heard new Glock mags are known for this...maybe get the UpLULA mag loader?

I load mine while standing, holding the mag in my left hand close to my body, and with the mag on the bench...my shoulders over the mag, my left thumb acting as a guide. In this posture I have all the mechanical advantage I need to get those last rounds inserted without too much difficulty.

If I hold the mag free - not on the bench - number 10 is a real challenge.

Mine came with mag loaders, and they helped immensely when they were brand new.

Id recommend a magazine loader, something like the Uplula. I use the cheapo one that came with my XD but it seems to work.

They are stiff, but will loosen up...that or we get stronger, I am not sure which. The loader helps a lot.

                Mag Loader

Good to hear that it is not just me and my soft pink fingers being a baby. I didn't realize there was such a thing as a mag loader. Thanks all, this site is great.

Get a glock magazine loader, they are very helpful and work with many different types of magazines.

10 round glock mags are a pain to load. I use the UpLULA ? loader, but the one glock supply works too.

For me, I just press the top round in the mag down a little with the thumb of the hand that's holding the mag. Makes it a lot easier for the the first couple hundred rounds. After that, it frees up a little.
