    Buying Handgun from Pawn Shop?

I was thinking about buying a Glock that is available from a nearby pawn shop, but I'm still within 30 days of my last handgun purchase. I'm confused about the 1 handgun per 30 days rule when it comes to pawn shops. Does a pawn shop purchase count as a PPT (exempt from the 1-per-30 rule)?

I tried to find this in the wiki http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/in...te_Party_-_PPT but I'm confused....

sorry if this has been asked before

I think if the gun's owner has it on consignment, then the PPT transaction is exempt from the stupid 1 per 30 rule, provided the original owner does not have to pay any penalty fee from the consignment contract. If the gun was sold to the pawnshop and the shop's owner has an FFL to sell it to the general public, then you may need to wait. Probably best to ask the pawnshop about the status of the gun and go from there.

Not only that, but there is a 30 day pawnbroker hold from when they receive it before they can sell it. If it was just turned in yesterday, you have to wait 29 days before they can sell it to you anyway.

edit: that might depend on the County. In LA county it is 30 days.

Is there a list of FFL pawnshops somewhere?
my google-fu only turned up one near me in the central valley (outskirts of Modesto)
that would be OK except they close early and not open on weekends/holidays so visiting means a day off work.
I would think that there would be more around

Pawn shops hold the same FFL as any other gun shop in CA. 1 handgun every 30 days regardless of ppt, buying new, or pawn return.

the only list of FFL pawnshops I know if is at the ATF website. You would DL the list of CA FFLs and then sort them by type. 02FFL is the pawnshop FFL, but not every pawnshop in CA that has an FFL sells to the public.

not true. normal gunshops have an 01FFL, pawnshops usually have an 02FFL (that is an FFL for pawnbrokers)

not sure what you are trying to say here. PPT and pawn return are normally exempt from the 1-in-30.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
