2nd proof of residency question

For 2nd proof of residency on a handgun purchase, isn't any valid bill from the last 90 good or does it have to be from the current month?

Last 90 days is good. You actually only need 1 proof of residency. The DL is not proof of residency just proof of age and identification. I once saw an FFL who asked the person to show 3 months worth of the utility bill but then the person was using the store's computer so I guess it wasn't that big of a deal.

Hmm that explains it. I've done a few PPTs with residential aliens and I guess the FFL skipped that part.

Credit card statements are not good enough for California as it does not prove your actual residency (PO box for example).

Did you READ the link you cited?

If the buyer is not a U.S. Citizen, then he or she is required to demonstrate that he or she is legally within the United States by providing to the firearms dealer with documentation that contains his/her Alien Registration Number or I-94 Number.
Purchasers of handguns are also required to provide proof of California residency, such as a utility bill, residential lease, property deed, or government-issued identification (other than a drivers license or other DMV-issued identification).

He is using the credit card statements to satisfy the feds on a RIFLE purchase, not the DOJ on a HANDGUN purchase.

That's funny, I thought it was just an additional proof on HG's not LG's. When I purchased my shotgun and did a PPT for a mini 14 at Big 5, they only needed the DL, when I asked if they needed my Car Reg., they said that was only for HG's.

Car registration and license will work as long as the info is current.

But not too current, last year whe I bought a new HG at Target Masters in Milpitas, I had just renewed my Car Reg at AAA and shredded the old one. My new one was not valid yet??? The Reg. showed something like Valid 02/05/07 through 02/05/08 and it was 02/01/07, so I had to wait an additional couple of days on the waiting period because they were being jerks.

It says hunting or fishing licenses do not count as they are not issued by the government.

However, lifetime licenses are issued by the government and do count.

Permanent Green card holders have to show three current consecutive utility bills (cable/ sat, water, electicity, gas, telephone bills, but not car registration, insurance, credit card bills etc) when DROSing any handgun or long gun. Ask me how I know?

Credit card statements _are_ valid for fed requirements. I used them for my last 2 shotgun and 2 rifle purchases. CC statements + gc ( and alien number ) + CA drivers and I was set.

Credit card statements are not valid for CA residency for handgun, but you can use a DMV registration for that, no?
